We brought soul food to Glasgow — and Glasgow made it their own.
Where It Started
Glasgow Needed This.
Soul Food GLA was born from a simple belief — that Glasgow deserved a place where soul food was done properly. Not a gimmick, not a trend. Real food, cooked with care, served with pride.
We started with one location in Giffnock and a menu built around the B.Y.O.B box — Build Your Own Box. Pick your protein, your sides, your sauce. Make it yours. The city took to it immediately.
Every recipe is crafted to carry that feeling of home cooking — the kind of food that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. That's what “Tastes Like Love” means to us. It's not marketing. It's the standard we hold ourselves to every single service.
A small kitchen in the Southern United States where authentic recipes were developed and perfected by a Southerner with a passion for real Southern comfort food.
The Soul Food GLA idea is born in Glasgow, Scotland. People from different backgrounds cross paths and share a vision. Southern American recipes, Canadian influence, and Scottish entrepreneurship come together to create something unique.
The first ghost kitchen launches.
The brand grows rapidly through collection and takeaway orders.
The first small physical store opens on Paisley Road West. Demand quickly outgrows the space.
The team realises the concept needs a larger home to properly showcase the full Soul Food experience, including the launch and development of BYOB (Build Your Own Box). The store closes to prepare for the next chapter.
Soul Food GLA opens its flagship location in Giffnock, Glasgow — the full BYOB experience, done properly.
Finnieston opens. Soul Food GLA expands into the heart of Glasgow city centre at 512 St Vincent Street — bringing the full BYOB experience to a new neighbourhood.

BYOB — Build Your Own Box — is at the heart of everything we do. The idea is simple: you should be able to create your own meal, choose your own combinations, pick your own flavours, and build something that suits you.
We didn't want to hand people a fixed menu and tell them what to eat. Soul food is personal. It's the food you grew up with, the flavours that feel like home. So we built a system that puts the choice back in your hands.

Authentic Southern Classics
Flavours Scotland Had Never Tasted.
When Soul Food GLA launched, many of these dishes were virtually unknown in Scotland. We changed that. These are the Southern classics that started it all.
Cornbread
Golden, crumbly, and baked fresh. A Southern staple.
Catfish
Crispy-fried Southern-style catfish, seasoned to perfection.
Candied Yams
Sweet, buttery, and slow-cooked the traditional way.
Real Mac & Cheese
Not the box stuff. Proper baked mac with real cheese.
Southern Fried Chicken
Crispy outside, juicy inside — the way it should be.
Shrimp
Southern-spiced shrimp, full of flavour and fire.
House Sauces & Seasonings
Developed from authentic Southern recipes and brought to Glasgow.
These flavours were uncommon in Scotland when Soul Food GLA started — helping make us one of the first of our kind in the area. We're proud to have brought a little bit of the American South to Glasgow.
